The University of Montana is very pleased to announce that its “Crown of the Continent Initiative,” started in 2007, will henceforth be called “The University of Montana Crown of the Continent and Greater Yellowstone Initiative.” Expansion is well underway and soon this website will reflect this exciting change by offering information, features, maps, and photos about the Greater Yellowstone region and ecosystem as well as continuing our traditional focus on the Crown. During the next few weeks, in order to accommodate this “merger,” the website will undergo a significant renovation, so stay tuned and thanks for your patience!

In the meantime, though, we invite you to to access our most recent e-magazine issue that introduces the Greater Yellowstone to our audience. We think that you will find the material included there ― science articles, historical features, reports from several new partners in the GY, art work and photographs, as well as a book recommendation ― to be informative, interesting, educational, and, we hope, inspiring. Starting with the summer issue of what will now be “The University of Montana Crown of the Continent and Greater Yellowstone E-magazine,” both of these important ecosystems will be featured together in each issue.

As always, we encourage you to continue sending your thoughts, comments, questions and suggestions to us (Co-Directors Rick Graetz and Jerry Fetz) at our e-mail address umcrown@umontana.edu. Best wishes to all of you for a wonderful spring and early summer.
